About this opportunity
The Department of Agriculture Forest Service R6-Pacific Northwest Region is seeking contractors to replace and rehabilitate the Camas Prairie fence located on the Barlow Ranger District of the Mount Hood National Forest. The project requires all labor and materials to replace existing buck-n-pole fence sections with 4-strand barbed wire meeting Forest Service and wildlife-friendly specifications, design and build a let-down fence section and gate, and rehabilitate existing barbed wire sections. Contractors must also clear a 4-foot right-of-way of vegetation and debris along both sides of the fence's north edge and remove all old fencing materials. Previous experience building wildland fences in remote areas is required, as the work site requires cross-country travel and both on-trail and off-trail access by foot. The solicitation is expected to be available for download from sam.gov on approximately September 26, 2025, with proposals due by October 15, 2025.
This opportunity is designated as a total small business set-aside under NAICS code 238990 (All Other Specialty Trade Contractors). No incumbent contractors are mentioned in the pre-solicitation notice. The government estimate ranges between $25,000 and $100,000 for the complete project. The fence spans approximately 3 miles around the perimeter of a 102-acre wetland prairie, consisting of 1 mile of buck-n-pole fence replacement, 2 miles of 4-strand barbed wire fence work, and 33 feet of let-down fence construction. The anticipated period of performance requires completion by June 1, 2026, and the successful contractor must maintain active registration in the System for Award Management (SAM) database throughout the contract lifecycle.
