About this opportunity

The Department of the Air Force Materiel Command Lifecycle Management Center is soliciting commercial solutions for small unmanned aircraft systems (sUAS) capable of short-range, one-way attack air interdiction missions under Commercial Solutions Opening Notice FA8629-25-S-C001. The Government seeks complete, operationally ready UAS platforms weighing less than 20 pounds with a 3+ pound payload capacity, capable of ranges exceeding 50 nautical miles at speeds over 200 mph, with fire-and-forget functionality, software-defined targeting, multi-platform coordination, low observability, and operation in denied, degraded, intermittent, and limited communication and GPS-denied environments. The solicitation is structured as a three-phase competitive process with Phase 1 Solution Briefs due by April 23, 2026 (extended from April 20), Phase 2 Pitch Sessions scheduled for April 27 through May 1, 2026, and Phase 3 full proposals to follow Phase 2 evaluations. The Government will evaluate submissions based on best value and overall merit, with particular interest in innovative capabilities such as Modular Open Systems Architecture-aligned subsystems and autonomous teaming software integrated into complete system solutions. Solutions must comply with FY2020 NDAA Section 848, FY2023 NDAA Section 817, the 2024 American Security Drone Act, and DoD cybersecurity requirements, and awards will be issued as Firm-Fixed-Price contracts under Federal Acquisition Regulation Part 12 rather than Other Transaction agreements.

This solicitation contains no set-aside designation and is open to both U.S. and international vendors with one or more contracts anticipated to be awarded. No incumbent contractors or specific award values are identified in the solicitation documents. The Government reserves the right to select all, some, or none of the proposals for award, and Phase 3 awardees may require SECRET-level facility and personnel clearances to support demonstrations and deliveries. Place of performance is identified as the United States, with successful prototype completion potentially resulting in follow-on production contracts without further competition. Phase 1 submissions must be formatted as presentations not exceeding 12 slides and must address technical specifications, launch mechanisms, operational capabilities, sensor capabilities with detection ranges, terminal guidance in denied environments, production scalability, mission planning software integration, open hardware/software interface compliance, existing test and evaluation data, and intellectual property restrictions.
