About this opportunity
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has issued a Special Notice announcing its intent to award a sole source firm fixed price purchase order to Mesa Laboratories, Inc. for calibration services. The procurement is specifically for calibration services related to the National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases' (NCIRD) temperature and humidity monitoring systems. The CDC is utilizing simplified acquisition procedures under FAR 13.106-1(b) and 10 U.S.C. 2304(c)(1) authority to negotiate with only one source. The systems, sensors, and software requiring calibration are proprietary to Mesa Laboratories, Inc., which serves as the justification for the sole source approach. The anticipated contract start date is August 25, 2025.
The primary purpose of this Special Notice is to provide transparency about the CDC's procurement intentions while allowing other interested parties to demonstrate their capabilities to fulfill the same requirement. Interested contractors must submit their responses via email to Contracting Officer Ann Bonis at won5@cdc.gov by 10:00 AM ET on Wednesday, August 20, 2025. While this notice is not a request for competitive quotations, the government will consider all responses received within the notice period to determine whether a competitive procurement should be conducted instead. The eligibility criteria are open to any party that can demonstrate capability to respond to the calibration service requirements for the specified monitoring systems. The government retains sole discretion in determining whether to proceed with the sole source award or transition to a competitive procurement based on the responses received.
