About this opportunity

The Department of the Army, through The Old Guard (3d U.S. Infantry Regiment), has issued a Special Notice regarding Industry Days for an upcoming Caisson Wagons procurement requirement. The notice was posted on January 30, 2026, with a due date of March 5, 2026, and invites industry participation in informational sessions regarding this acquisition. The U.S. Army Caisson Detachment uses caisson wagons to conduct memorial affairs operations and military funerals at Arlington National Cemetery in support of all Joint Services. This Special Notice is not a set-aside procurement and is open to both large and small businesses interested in learning more about the government's requirements and specifications. The government has emphasized that all scheduled events are contingent upon federal appropriations availability and reserves the right to postpone or cancel without liability for attendee costs.

The primary objective of this Special Notice is to allow contractors to gain detailed information about the caisson wagon requirements through structured industry days before a formal solicitation is released. Interested companies must confirm their attendance by submitting a registration worksheet no later than 12:00 PM Eastern Time on March 5, 2026, indicating whether they plan to attend the in-person event during the week of March 23-26, 2026. A virtual industry day was held on February 5-6, 2026, over Microsoft Teams, with Day 1 running from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM EST and Day 2 offering individual one-on-one meetings with government representatives. For in-person attendance, contractors must provide valid government-issued identification compliant with REAL ID standards, along with additional documentation for non-U.S. citizens including passport and visa information. The Statement of Objectives document specifies that caisson wagons must meet precise dimensional and performance criteria, including a maximum weight of 2,000 pounds, a service life of 40 years with proper maintenance, and the ability to sustain daily use at specified speeds and grades while carrying an 800-pound casket.
