About this opportunity
The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), a component of the Department of Justice, issued a Special Notice on March 12, 2026, regarding a cable television services requirement. The DEA intends to award a firm-fixed price sole source Purchase Order to Comcast Business Communications, LLC for the provision of high-quality cable TV services. This acquisition is being pursued as a sole source procurement in accordance with FAR 13.501, which exempts certain acquisitions from the requirement to promote full and open competition. The NAICS code for this acquisition is 517111 (Wired Telecommunications Carriers). This notice is not a request for proposal but rather an opportunity for interested parties to submit capability statements for government consideration.
The DEA seeks cable television services with integrated in-house classroom broadcast capability for 185 receivers, with a period of performance from July 1, 2026, through June 30, 2027, for a recurring requirement. Market research conducted by the government determined that only Comcast Business Communications, LLC is capable of providing the required services in the specified geographic area, as neither Cox nor Verizon operate service in that location. Interested contractors must submit capability statements electronically to Ms. Angel Barkley at angel.d.barkley@dea.gov by March 17, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. EST. Any source capable of providing cable TV services may submit a capability statement, and all submissions will be considered solely to determine whether the government should conduct a competitive procurement. The government retains sole discretion to decide whether to proceed with the sole source award or open the requirement to competition based on responses received.
