About this opportunity
The United States Air Force Materiel Command Air Force Sustainment Center is conducting market research to identify potential sources capable of qualifying and producing C-5 Main Landing Gear Hydraulic Brake Assemblies (NSN 3040-01-236-5742, PN: 42357-30) for USAF aircraft. These spring-released hydraulic brake assemblies are critical components of the Main Landing Gear and Door Actuation Assembly that engage during emergency extension by applying hydraulic pressure to actuate pistons and clamp brake plates. The government seeks contractors with expertise, capabilities, and experience to overhaul these brake assemblies in accordance with Technical Order 16A1-17-4-3 and attached drawings. Interested contractors must complete and submit a Contractor Capability Survey that addresses business information, general capabilities, overhaul processes, and commerciality aspects. All responses must be submitted by close of business on July 17, 2025, via email to Program Manager J. McKenzie Grinstead, PCO Phillip Russell, and Buyer Alyssa Tanner.
No set-aside designation has been determined at this time, though the government will analyze small business responses and market research to determine the final procurement strategy after thorough evaluation. The anticipated contract structure is a Requirements Type Contract with a 10-year performance period, consisting of one basic year, four one-year ordering periods, and five one-year option periods. The projected quantity is 56 brake assembly units per ordering period throughout the contract duration. Small businesses are specifically encouraged to participate and may propose teaming arrangements, partnerships, joint ventures, or subcontracting relationships to meet the full requirement, with the government requesting evidence of such arrangements where applicable. The government has made clear that participation in this market survey does not guarantee future solicitation participation or contract awards, and no reimbursement will be provided for survey participation expenses.
