About this opportunity
The U.S. Coast Guard Academy (USCGA) in New London, CT is conducting market research for bus transportation services to support their NCAA Division III athletic program. The Request for Information (RFI) seeks input from potential vendors capable of providing dedicated transportation for 22 varsity sports and six club teams, involving over 600 student athletes. Key contract requirements include providing 54-passenger buses with undercarriage storage, WiFi, and restrooms, capable of supporting multiple simultaneous trips within a 2-3 hour radius and some extended multi-day journeys. Interested vendors are asked to submit capability statements addressing specific questions about their service capabilities, experience with college athletics transportation, and socio-economic business classifications. The RFI requires responses by February 12, 2025, with all correspondence to be directed via email to Contract Specialist Catherine Foster, using the specific identifier 70Z02325CGARFIBUS in the subject line.
The procurement is currently not set aside for any specific business category, though the government is exploring potential small business and socio-economic set-aside opportunities. The anticipated contract will have a 5-year period of performance with five one-year ordering periods, potentially involving approximately 35 multiple-vehicle events annually. The estimated bus schedule indicates around 100 trips throughout the 2024-2025 academic year, ranging from single-day 8-13 hour trips to multi-day events lasting up to 96 hours. Vendors will need to demonstrate flexibility in supporting short-notice and dynamic collegiate athletic transportation requirements, particularly in the northeast United States. The government will be conducting additional market research through GSA to comprehensively understand market capabilities for this transportation service requirement.
