About this opportunity
The Department of the Air Force Space Command is seeking to procure a comprehensive WiFi and internet infrastructure solution for the 460th FSS/FSVS Fitness Center at Buckley Air Force Base in Colorado. The procurement encompasses high-speed internet services, including a 1 GIG fiber internet circuit with CenturyLink-provided router (Fiber Plus), power over ethernet distribution switches, wireless access points throughout the facility, installation services, and necessary wiring to interconnect all hardware elements. The solution aims to provide wireless internet access for facility patrons using smartphones, tablets, and personal computers during fitness and meeting activities, supporting up to 1,500 personnel. The project includes additional business applications such as Microsoft Office 365, web hosting, DNS registration, data backup, and cloud fax capabilities at no additional charge. This pre-solicitation notice was posted on September 15, 2025, with responses due by September 18, 2025, providing potential contractors with a very short response window.
The contract opportunity does not utilize any set-aside designations and is open to all qualified contractors. CenturyLink appears to be the specified provider for the fiber circuit and router components of the solution, suggesting either an existing relationship or specific technical requirements that favor their infrastructure. The total estimated project value is approximately $70,000 over a 3-year contract period. Key technical specifications include deployment of 20 wireless access points (5 specialized for high-ceiling/gymnasium areas and 15 standard units), one 24-port network switch, and a Cisco Meraki security appliance. The contractor must complete delivery and installation within 30 days of contract award, with the solution also including 10 Business Essential licenses and professional site survey services as part of the comprehensive package.
