About this opportunity
The Department of the Air Force Air Mobility Command at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst is seeking a contractor to upfit 1-2 Type-6 Wildland Firefighting Vehicles by converting 2024 Ford F-450 chassis into specialized brush trucks capable of operating in the New Jersey Pine Barrens environment. The contractor must install a 275-gallon water tank, mount a customer-supplied pump, fabricate comprehensive brush cage protection with steel reinforcements, and add extensive electrical and mechanical modifications including specialized lighting, winches, communication equipment, and siren systems. The vendor must have demonstrated experience in Type-6 wildland fire apparatus upfitting and be located within 174 miles of the base to qualify for this specialized conversion work. The government will evaluate proposals using the Lowest Price Technically Acceptable methodology, with technical proposals limited to 10 pages that demonstrate understanding of the Statement of Work requirements. The proposal submission deadline is 10:00 AM on September 9, 2025, with offers required to remain valid for 120 calendar days.
This solicitation is designated as a 100% small business set-aside under NAICS code 811198 with a $10,000,000 size standard, and is intended as a single-source award to GPT Services, LLC. The government plans to award a firm-fixed-price contract with a performance period of 180 calendar days from contract award, requiring completion of the upfit work within that timeframe. The contract includes base line items for the primary vehicle conversion plus option line items for a potential second vehicle upfit, allowing for flexibility in the final quantity based on government needs. All work will be performed at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst in New Jersey, with monthly inspections required throughout the project and final approval needed from both the Project Manager and Alternate Project Manager before acceptance. Contractors must maintain an active System for Award Management (SAM) registration and provide detailed unit and total pricing for all Contract Line Item Numbers as part of their proposal submission.
