About this opportunity
The Department of the Air Force Air Mobility Command is seeking to procure one Brand Name IonScan 600E Explosives Detection System for the 92d Security Forces Squadron at Fairchild Air Force Base in Washington. This desktop explosives detection system will serve as a backup device to augment existing capabilities and ensure continuous detection of potential explosive threats in vehicles, luggage, or packages entering the base. The acquisition is justified as a single source procurement due to standardization requirements from the Air Force Security Forces Center and existing familiarity with the system from a previous 2020 contract. The solicitation uses simplified acquisition procedures with evaluation based primarily on price and Supplier Performance Risk System (SPRS) assessment. The original quote submission deadline of July 14, 2025 at 1:00 PM Pacific Time was extended to July 18, 2025 at 1:00 PM Pacific Time through Amendment 01, and all offerors must hold their quote prices firm until September 30, 2025 to accommodate FY25 funding constraints.
This procurement is structured as a 100% Small Business Set-Aside under NAICS code 334511 with a size standard of 1,350 employees. The government has identified three authorized small business resellers - Point Security, Noble Supply Logistics, and FarrWest - and anticipates receiving at least two quotes for the acquisition. The specific model required is the IonScan 600E Portable/Desktop Explosives Detector with part number 4824000E-P-1 and serial number 90659, manufactured by Smiths. The system will be delivered to Fairchild AFB, Washington, with all associated supplies and equipment included in shipping costs. The solicitation notes that funds are not currently available and reserves the government's right to cancel at any time, while requiring all vendors to be registered in the System for Award Management (SAM).
