About this opportunity

The United States Coast Guard Surface Forces Logistics Center is soliciting quotations for a marine steam boiler system (NSN 4410-01-230-8024) with a capacity of 535 pounds per hour, designed for forced circulation hot water heating applications aboard vessels. The boiler must be oil-fired, fully automatic, and meet specific technical specifications including marine welded construction, a maximum operating pressure of 30 PSI for hot water or 15 PSI for steam, and a fire rate of 8.00 gallons per hour maximum with an output rating of 840,000 BTU/hour maximum. Specific component requirements are mandated, including the McDonnell Miller M93 float switch, Warrick 3C2A6-25 low water probe, Honeywell flame detection equipment, and compatibility with existing bulkhead-mounted electrical controllers per specified drawings. The solicitation emphasizes that standard commercial packaging is unacceptable, and respondents must comply with Coast Guard-specific packaging requirements or their quotes will be rejected; additionally, the brand name part (SELAS Heat Technology Company LLC PN 5848-14E-STEAM) is mandatory for consideration. The solicitation was posted on March 5, 2026, with quotes due by March 11, 2026, providing a six-day response window.

This is a Total Small Business set-aside solicitation, meaning only small business concerns are eligible to compete for the award. The requirement is for three units of the specified boiler system to be delivered individually packaged and marked according to Coast Guard requirements. No award value or budget range is disclosed in the solicitation notice. Respondents must provide current representations and certifications as outlined in FAR 52.212-3, including small business status certifications, compliance with Buy American provisions, ethics and conduct standards, labor certifications, and other mandatory federal compliance requirements. The place of performance and delivery location are not explicitly specified in the available documentation, though the requirement originates from Coast Guard Surface Forces Logistics Center operations.
