About this opportunity
The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) Observing Systems Division is seeking a small business contractor to provide and install a 150 HP Jet Drive Outboard Engine and steering cable for its Water Science Center in Redding, California. The solicitation (RFQ 140G0125Q0045) requires a specific 2.7L, 4-stroke jet drive outboard engine with 20" shaft length, EFI fuel induction, and compatibility with a government-furnished Yamaha F150 jet drive pump. Potential vendors must submit written quotes by March 5, 2025, at 11:00 AM EST, with questions permitted via email to Cynthia Nicanor until February 28, 2025. The contractor must be registered in SAM.gov and capable of meeting detailed technical specifications outlined in the solicitation's salient characteristics and statement of work. Evaluation criteria are not explicitly detailed, but compliance with technical requirements and timely submission appear to be key considerations.
This procurement is a total small business set-aside under NAICS code 333618 with a size standard of 1,500 employees. The contract requires the selected vendor to deliver and install the engine within 180 days of receiving the purchase order, with an anticipated award date of March 31, 2025. The contractor must have a facility within 200 miles of the USGS Redding office or arrange shipping of the boat. The scope of work includes removing an existing jet drive pump, installing the new engine with a 13-foot rotary mechanical steering cable, and returning the old motor and unused lower unit to the government. While specific award value is not disclosed, the procurement involves a complete engine and installation package for a single USGS vessel, suggesting a moderate-value contract focused on specialized marine equipment for scientific research purposes.
