About this opportunity
The National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) is seeking information about domestically manufactured benchtop instruments with heaters for tissue dissociation. Specifically, the agency is looking for an automated tissue dissociator with eight individual heating units capable of processing various biological materials including mouse and human tissues. The solicitation is a Sources Sought notice requiring vendors to submit capability statements demonstrating they can provide a U.S.-manufactured instrument meeting precise technical specifications, such as operating temperatures between +4°C to +35°C and rotational speeds of 20-4,000 rpm. Vendors must respond by December 17, 2024, at 12:00 PM EST through the NIAID electronic Simplified Acquisition Submission System (eSASS). All respondents must have an active SAM.gov registration and provide detailed documentation proving their manufacturing capabilities within the United States, in compliance with the Buy American Act and Executive Order 14005.
The solicitation does not have a specific set-aside designation and is open to all qualified U.S. manufacturers. The instrument will be used in laboratory settings, with the primary place of performance located in Bethesda, MD 20814. The procurement falls under the Analytical Laboratory Instrument Manufacturing NAICS category (334516) and Laboratory Equipment and Supplies PSC category (6640). While no specific award value is mentioned, the technical requirements suggest this is a specialized scientific procurement targeting high-precision research equipment. The government emphasizes that this notice does not guarantee a contract award and reserves the right to use submitted information for future solicitation purposes. Respondents are advised that their submissions will be evaluated based on their ability to provide a domestically manufactured instrument that meets the detailed technical specifications for tissue dissociation across various biological sample types.
