About this opportunity
The U.S. Department of Agriculture, Agricultural Research Service is seeking a contractor to perform maintenance on all broken and slipped glass on the five greenhouses and corridors of Building 011 at the Beltsville Agricultural Research Center in Beltsville, Maryland. The resulting firm-fixed-price contract will require the contractor to replace approximately 70 sheets of 3mm tempered glass, clean the existing glazing compound, and apply new glazing compound within 60 days of the award date. Offers are due by May 6, 2024, at 9:00 AM ET, and a site visit is scheduled for April 29, 2024. The government intends to award without discussions but reserves the right to conduct discussions if deemed in its best interest.
This is a total small business set-aside procurement with a NAICS code of 238150 (Glass and Glazing Contractors) and a $19.0M size standard. The contract will be for a lump sum amount to perform the required maintenance work on Building 011. Answers to the following five questions are hereby provided.
1. Can parts of the fence be taken down in order to gain access to the sides of the greenhouses?
Yes, as long as it is returned to its original state.
2. The odd small pieces of glass that have to be special cut can they be non-tempered glass so they can be cut to size?
Yes.
3. Do you want us to suggest change orders if we see any large amounts of sealant missing where water could be protruding inside the greenhouse?
If large amount of sealant is missing around a piece of glass, it needs to be removed and reset. Yes, a change order can be submitted.
4. Would any more time be allowed on the contract for last minute glass orders or if any other unforeseen issues were to arise?
Such issues would be addressed at the time they occur.
5. Would it be possible to bill in advance to place orders for glass?
No.
