About this opportunity
This Award Notice from the Department of the Air Force Air Education and Training Command awards a contract to Johnson Controls, Inc. for $722,985 to replace HVAC controls on Real Property Installed Equipment at the Tri-Service Laboratory with the EMCS Metasys system and controls. The existing proprietary and antiquated HVAC controls are over 10 years old and will no longer be supported, frequently losing communication with equipment controllers and resulting in the loss of temperature, humidity, air exchange and pressure control in several laboratories. Failure to correct this would lead to a major loss of research funds and potential loss of AAALAC laboratory accreditation, requiring costly re-accreditation.
Notice text
This is an AWARD Notice and fulfills the requirements of FAR Part 5:
The goal of the project is to replace the HVAC controls on a number of Real Property Installed Equipment with the EMCS Metasys system and controls. The existing HVAC controls on these pieces of equipment are proprietary, antiquated (over 10 years) and will no longer be supported through vendors. As a result, the Building Automation System (BAS) frequently loses communication with equipment controllers throughout the network. This loss of communication results in a loss of control of temperature, humidity, air exchange rates, and air pressure differentials for a number of laboratories. The loss of control of these environmental conditions in the labs will result in a major loss of research funds if not corrected. The labs in question are currently AAALAC accredited and if the environmental conditions are not maintained, accreditation could be lost resulting in a costly re-accreditation process.
