About this opportunity

NASA's IT Procurement Office issued this Limited/Sole Source Justification Notice for the procurement of additional 5J AM0 pLED Solar Simulator Head units from Angstrom Designs, Inc. to complete a solar array testing system at NASA Marshall Space Flight Center. The specialized pLED-based solar simulator system is uniquely capable of testing multi-junction solar cell technology at the AM0 spectrum and power levels required for space applications, which NASA determined no other market alternatives like G2V Optics and Avalon could provide. NASA conducted comprehensive market research through multiple platforms including NVDB, Small Business Administration's Dynamic Search, and SAM.gov, and published a sources sought notice from February 26 to March 13, 2025, but received no responses identifying alternative suppliers. The contract was awarded to Angstrom Designs under contract number 80TECH25P0002 on June 4, 2025, though the specific award amount was not disclosed. The performance period is estimated at 16 weeks, and the procurement will be structured as a Fixed Firm Price contract to enhance MSFC's current solar array testing capabilities in support of future NASA missions.
