About this opportunity

The Drug Enforcement Administration intends to award a purchase order on a sole-source basis to Powervar, Inc., for uninterruptible power supply preventive maintenance and battery replacement services, with a response deadline of May 22, 2026 at 10:00 AM Eastern Standard Time. This is not a competitive acquisition; Powervar is the sole authorized source for factory-recommended maintenance on the DEA's UPS equipment and the only reasonably available source for original equipment manufacturer parts and factory-trained technicians.

The acquisition covers preventive maintenance checks and battery replacement for six UPS units supporting laboratory instruments, with performance spanning May 24, 2026 through September 30, 2026. The UPS units have been overdue for service between one and eight years; failure to maintain them risks lead-acid battery leakages, workplace hazards, equipment damage, unit failures, and costly replacements that could cause work stoppages. The purchase order will be conducted under FAR Part 13 Simplified Acquisition Procedures, with NAICS code 335999, and is not a small business set-aside. The dollar value falls between $10,000 and $250,000, and the contracting officer will determine fair and reasonable pricing before award.

Interested vendors may submit a capability statement describing their ability to provide services by the May 22 deadline. Contact Jose Marin at jose.l.marin@dea.gov. The Government reserves the right to reject all submissions if deemed in the best interest of the Government.
