About this opportunity
The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), specifically the Marshall Space Flight Center (MSFC), has issued a Special Notice for AM GRX-810 Hardware and Post Processing. The opportunity is designated as a Total Small Business set-aside and focuses on laser powder bed fusion (L-PBF) printing and post-processing of advanced NASA nickel-based burn resistant alloys, including ORCAlloy-21 and GRX-810. The contract opportunity is categorized under NAICS code 561990 for All Other Support Services and has been posted on March 27, 2025, with a response deadline of April 1, 2025. NASA intends to issue a sole source contract to North American Manufacturing Pros, LLC under FAR 13.106-1(b)(1)(i), identifying them as the sole provider of the specified hardware and post-processing services. The project is part of the InRoDES initiative and will involve complex manufacturing of specialized components such as injectors, nozzles, and various structural bodies.
The primary objective of this Special Notice is to acquire advanced additive manufacturing services for developing sophisticated aerospace hardware using specialized nickel-based alloys. Contractors interested in participating must submit their capabilities and qualifications in writing by 12:00 p.m. Central Standard Time on April 1, 2025. The performance period runs from April 21, 2025, through December 21, 2025, with all deliverables to be shipped to Central Receiving at Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Alabama. Key requirements include providing an EOS L-PBF machine available for 432 hours per month, completing chemical mechanical polishing, sourcing necessary powder, and performing high cycle fatigue testing. Eligible contractors must be small businesses capable of meeting NASA's stringent technical specifications, including precise manufacturing processes, material certifications, and comprehensive testing protocols. The government reserves discretion to conduct a competitive procurement based on the received responses, with the ultimate goal of advancing NASA's materials and manufacturing capabilities for future aerospace applications.
