About this opportunity

The Department of the Air Force Air Education and Training Command is conducting market research to identify potential suppliers of rubber removal chemical solutions for Altus Air Force Base in Oklahoma. The Air Force seeks chemicals capable of removing tire rubber buildup from both concrete and asphalt airfield pavements without damaging pavement surfaces, joint seals, or striping. All chemical products must comply with EPA and DOT safety standards and be environmentally safe, with complete Safety Data Sheets required for submission. Interested vendors must provide company information, socioeconomic status, detailed product descriptions including application methods and coverage areas, delivery terms, and any previous airfield rubber removal experience. Responses must be submitted electronically by August 22, 2025, at 1:00 PM CST to specified Air Force contacts, with submissions limited to capability statements and product information only, as pricing is not requested at this time.

This sources sought notice does not include any set-aside designations and is open to all qualified vendors regardless of size or socioeconomic status. Altus AFB currently uses AVION 50 NEXGEN RUBBER REMOVAL CHEMICAL with NSN 6850-01-505-3106, which they purchase in 275-gallon totes and have delivered via ground carrier due to lack of on-site storage facilities. The Air Force has not disclosed any budget ranges or award values, as this is strictly a market research exercise that does not guarantee future procurement opportunities. The current application process involves applying the chemical to affected areas, agitating with a broom and water, then rinsing with water toward runway edges, with the base's heavy equipment shop handling all application work internally. This request for information serves solely to identify capable sources and assess available commercial products meeting the Air Force's specific operational requirements.
