About this opportunity
The Department of the Army Medical Command is conducting a sources sought notice for market research on allergen extracts, seeking to understand the manufacturing, reselling, and distribution landscape for a comprehensive list of approximately 175 different allergen products. The market research aims to identify manufacturers and distributors who can provide extracts across various categories including epithelia, feathers, fish/shellfish, foods, fungi, grass pollen, insects, mites, nuts, and other allergen types. Respondents are specifically encouraged to highlight any unique FDA licenses or patents they possess for the listed products, and to submit product catalogs and capability statements to demonstrate their competencies. The pre-solicitation notice is open from January 3, 2025, with responses due by January 10, 2025, and indicates that a separate solicitation and request for proposals will be posted on sam.gov in the future. Evaluation will likely focus on manufacturing capabilities, product diversity, regulatory compliance, and unique intellectual property related to allergen extracts.
The pre-solicitation notice does not indicate a specific set-aside for small businesses or disadvantaged vendors, and no incumbent contractors are mentioned in the documentation. While no specific award value or budget range is provided, the opportunity is categorized under NAICS code 325412 for Pharmaceutical Preparation Manufacturing and PSC code 6550 for In Vitro Diagnostic Substances, Reagents, Test Kits and Sets. The comprehensive spreadsheet attached to the notice details extract specifications including preferred concentrations and glycerination levels, suggesting a technically complex procurement process. The solicitation appears to be preparing for a potential future contract that would require a vendor or vendors capable of manufacturing or distributing a wide range of allergen extracts with precise scientific specifications. The Department of the Army Medical Command seems to be conducting thorough market research to understand the current capabilities of potential suppliers before releasing a formal solicitation.
