Construction Project:
Alki Seawall - Sec 103 Alki Coastal Erosion Control Project, Seattle, WA.
The Seattle District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers proposes to construct an approximately 440 linear foot seawall to provide coastal erosion protection for public utilities, roadways, and public lands behind the wall. The project is located in West Seattle at Emma Schmitz Memorial Overlook Park. The project will involve construction of a new soldier pile and lagging seawall to a height of 22 feet (MLLW) immediately adjacent to and seaward of an existing deteriorated wall. Environmental best management practices include removal of loose armor rock in front of the project footprint where possible.
The major features of work include:
Soldier pile wall - augered holes, tremie concrete in marine environment, steel soldier piles, concrete lagging
Erosion protection - riprap and gravel
Landscaping - earthwork, grading, plantings, concrete benches.
Special construction constraints: public area, existing utility protection (54" dia. sewer main), coastal work (care and diversion of water), environmental (work window)
The magnitude of construction is expected to be $1 Million to $5 Million. The resulting contract will be firm-fixed-price.
