About this opportunity
The Department of Veterans Affairs Veterans Health Administration Veterans Integrated Service Network 4 is conducting a sources sought notice for research supplies specifically focused on 10X Genomics Flex kits for medical research at the VA Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System. The procurement aims to support a study examining molecular and cellular changes in skin conditions using single-cell RNA sequencing and Reflectance Confocal Microscopy at the UCLA Medical Research Laboratory, with the goal of capturing keratinocytes and other delicate cell types that are prone to being lost during sample preparation processes. The research will correlate data from control, benign, and malignant skin samples subjected to formaldehyde fixation followed by single-cell RNA sequencing with Reflectance Confocal Microscopy imaging-based predictions of malignancy types. Interested vendors must be registered in the System for Award Management (SAM) database and provide capability statements, company details, and product specifications. Responses to this sources sought notice are due by August 19, 2025, at 12:00 PM EST and must be submitted via email to Contract Specialist Mae McGarry.
While this is listed as "No Set-Aside Used," the solicitation indicates a preference for service-disabled veteran-owned small businesses (SDVOSB) and veteran-owned small businesses (VOSB). The procurement includes specific quantities of research supplies: 2 GEM-X Flex Sample Preparation v2 Kits (48 reactions), 3 GEM-X Flex Gene Expression Mouse 4-plex (16 samples), 1 GEM-X Flex Gene Expression Human 4-plex (16 samples), 2 GEM-X Flex Gene Expression Chip Kits, 2 Chromium Next GEM Chip Q Single Cell Kits, and 2 Chromium Next GEM Single Cell Fixed RNA Sample Preparation Kits. The solicitation number is 36C24E25Q0038, and no award values or budget ranges are specified in the sources sought notice. No information about potential incumbents or current contractors is provided in the documentation. The procurement supports ongoing research activities at the approved research space at UCLA MRL 6535, with a performance timeline extending through June 30, 2025.

Introduction
The purpose of this Statement of Work is to outline the tasks and responsibilities for a contract with VA Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System (VA GLA) Medical Research for 10X Genomics Flex kit required for the capturing keratinocytes and other delicate cell types, which are prone to being lost during the sample preparation process when control, benign and malignant skin samples are subjected to formaldehyde fixation followed by sc-RNA sequencing on the VA West Los Angeles approved research space at UCLA MRL 6535.
Scope
The Department of Veterans Affairs GLA VA Medical Center, has a requirement for the 10X Genomics Flex kit to capturing keratinocytes and other delicate cell types, which are prone to being lost during the sample preparation process when control, benign and malignant skin samples are subjected to formaldehyde fixation followed by sc-RNA sequencing. The data will be correlated with the Reflectance Confocal Microscopy imaging-based prediction of their malignancy types. This will help provide molecular and cellular changes corresponding to type of skin condition prediction by Reflectance Confocal Microscopy physician s Machine Learning and Reflectance Confocal Microscopy for Biopsy-free Virtual Histology of Squamous Skin Neoplasms study.
The contractor shall provide all resources necessary to accomplish the deliverables described in this statement of Work (SOW), except as may otherwise be specified. The requested supplies include:
