About this opportunity

The 14 Contracting Squadron within the Department of the Air Force Air Education and Training Command is conducting market research through a Request for Information (RFI) regarding repair and renovation services for an Aircraft Fire Trainer facility located in Building 994 at Columbus Air Force Base, Mississippi. This RFI is not a solicitation for proposals or pricing but rather seeks industry input on vendor capabilities and interest for acquisition planning purposes. The scope of work encompasses nine primary repair tasks including restoring ignition systems, installing protective shields, repairing fuselage components, servicing propane relief valves, repairing emergency stop systems, upgrading isolation systems, and bringing four doorways into compliance with safety standards. While no specific evaluation criteria are outlined in this pre-solicitation phase, vendors must demonstrate their technical capability to perform these specialized aircraft maintenance and repair tasks. Interested contractors must submit responses electronically to MSgt LiConstance Hayes at liconstance.hayes@us.af.mil by March 12, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. CST, with the understanding that responses are voluntary and will not impact future competition.

This opportunity is designated as a Total Small Business set-aside, restricting competition to small business entities as defined by the Small Business Administration. No incumbent contractor or previous award value information is disclosed in this pre-solicitation notice. The anticipated NAICS code is 811310 (Commercial and Industrial Machinery and Equipment Repair and Maintenance), and the Government anticipates procuring this requirement via purchase order rather than a formal sealed-bid or negotiated contract. Vendor responses should include company information, business size designation, and a detailed capability assessment demonstrating experience with aircraft maintenance, propane systems, electrical/pneumatic components, and structural repairs. Upon completion of market research, the finished work must be delivered to the Fire Department at Columbus AFB located at 1024 Independence Avenue Boulevard, Building 998. Contractors selected for award will be required to comply with Air Force security requirements including base entry procedures and contractor access regulations.
