About this opportunity
The Department of the Navy Strategic Systems Programs has published a Special Notice regarding the Advanced Fire Control System Development opportunity. This procurement involves a Request for Proposal (RFP) and a modification to the existing contract N0003024C1005, which will be awarded on a sole-source basis to General Dynamics Mission Systems (GDMS) in Pittsfield, Massachusetts. The opportunity falls under the Engineering Services NAICS category and the Fire Control Computing Sights and Devices PSC category. The Special Notice was posted on November 10, 2025, with a due date of November 25, 2025. This procurement represents a continuation of strategic systems development work previously awarded to the contractor.
The primary objective of this procurement is to accelerate the development of an Advanced Fire Control Sub-System (FCS) for the Strategic Weapon System, including necessary derisking activities and design efforts. The contractor must deliver equipment aligned with program schedule dates for SPALT 30365 (Fire Control Replacement System) as outlined in the Program Plan for the SSBN Replacement Fire Control System and Shipboard Data System, as well as fulfill requirements in the T9001C checklist. The procurement will be conducted on a sole-source basis due to the inextricable linkage between this effort and work already underway under the existing contract awarded on January 22, 2024. As this is a sole-source procurement modification to an existing contract, competitive eligibility is not applicable, and only General Dynamics Mission Systems is authorized to submit a proposal. The contractor will also be responsible for performing Program Protection activities in support of the broader Program Portfolio.
