About this opportunity

Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) is seeking information from industry on commercially available polymer-based additive manufacturing systems for a technology refresh, with responses due by August 20, 2026. No set-aside applies. The RFI, reopened as of August 11, 2026, to allow additional responses, supports Tier 1 and Tier 2 AM systems currently deployed to Fleet Readiness Centers and operational units.

Tier 1 systems must manufacture non-critical components, fit within 60 x 40 x 30 inches, be forward deployable within 1–2 days, pass through standard naval hatches (26 inches wide by 76 inches tall), and accommodate a build area between 13 x 9 inches minimum and 36 x 24 inches maximum. Tier 2 systems must manufacture critical components with a build area between 18 x 18 inches minimum and 48 x 48 inches maximum and are permanently installed without forward deployment requirements. Both systems must support shipboard, land-based, expeditionary, and developmental operations.

Respondents must provide ROM pricing, system dimensions, build volume, material specifications, power and environmental requirements, compliance with Section 889(a)(1)(B) of the 2019 NDAA, printing capabilities (layer thickness, resolution, dimensional accuracy, surface finish), supported polymer types and multi-material options, logistics support data (MTBF, reliability history, maintenance, warranty), and software specifications (slicer, monitoring, CAD compatibility, network configuration). Responses must be submitted in PDF format to Contracting Officer Meghan Huett (meghan.e.huett.civ@us.navy.mil) and Contract Specialist Elden Greuber (elden.j.greuber.civ@us.navy.mil) by 12:00 PM ET on August 20, 2026. Previous respondents need not resubmit following the August 11 reopening.
