About this opportunity

The 502d Contracting Squadron at Joint Base San Antonio-Randolph has issued a Special Notice regarding the procurement of family resiliency retreat services for the 688 CW Chaplain Corps. Published by the Department of the Air Force Air Education and Training Command on April 1, 2026, with a deadline of April 14, 2026, this notice indicates the Air Force's intent to award a purchase order to Kalahari Resort & Convention Center in Round Rock, Texas. The solicitation is being conducted under FAR 6.302-1, which permits direct solicitation and negotiation with a specific vendor rather than competitive bidding. This Notice of Intent is classified under NAICS 721110 (Hotels except Casino Hotels and Motels) with Product Service Code V231 for lodging services, and applies to large businesses with a size standard of $40,000,000.

The family resiliency retreats are designed to provide spiritual and personal development opportunities for active duty members, reserve personnel, and their dependents through a ministry-focused program. Two 2-night, 3-day retreats are scheduled for May 8-10, 2026 and August 14-16, 2026, each accommodating up to twenty adults and twenty-five children. The facility must be located within a two-hour drive of JBSA and must offer comprehensive onsite amenities including rock climbing, water park access, bowling, conference facilities, and dining options. While the government intends to award the contract to Kalahari Resort & Convention Center, interested parties may submit inquiries to determine if alternative entities can meet the requirement for future retreats. The primary objective is to enhance participants' mental toughness, spiritual maturity, and sense of responsibility to better equip military personnel and their families for personal and professional challenges.
