About this opportunity

Lawrence Livermore National Security, LLC is seeking sources to produce approximately 2,000 to 3,000 pounds per year of a chlorotrifluoroethylene/vinylidene fluoride copolymer similar to 3M's FK-800 resin. This fluoropolymer will be used in the production of high explosives for national security applications by the Department of Energy's National Nuclear Security Administration. Interested parties must demonstrate experience in emulsion polymerization of fluoropolymers, use of PFAS alternatives, waste management, and the ability to meet environmental, safety, health, quality assurance, and security requirements. Responses to the RFI are due by February 2, 2024 to inform a potential future solicitation.

There is no set-aside designated for this pre-solicitation. The NAICS code is 325 and PSC code is 6830. 3M is currently the sole incumbent for this requirement. The RFI does not provide award values but interested parties are asked to provide total program costs and timelines. An industry day will be held the week of January 22, 2024 to discuss technical requirements.
