About this opportunity

The goods being procured include cartridges and reagents used in diagnostic testing for Influenza A and B, Respiratory Syncytial Virus, SARS-COV2, and Group A Streptococcus on the proprietary Cepheid GeneXpert System analyzer. This is a sources sought notice only, meaning the Government is gathering market intelligence to determine acquisition strategy rather than issuing a formal solicitation. Responses must be submitted by March 24, 2026, at 12:00 PM Eastern Time to Contracting Specialist Barbara Robertson at Barbara.Robertson@va.gov, and potential vendors should provide business information, capability statements, relevant project experience, SAM UEI number, contract history, equipment brochures, and country of origin for manufacturing. The evaluation will inform whether sufficient small businesses exist to warrant a set-aside designation and determine the overall acquisition approach for this requirement.
This procurement has been assigned no set-aside designation at this time, as the Government is still assessing market capacity. The contract is anticipated to consist of a base year plus four 1-year ordering options, allowing for extended service delivery and potential cost savings through continuity. No incumbent contractor or award value has been disclosed in this pre-solicitation notice. The applicable NAICS code is 325413 (In-Vitro Diagnostic Substance Manufacturing) with a small business size standard of 1,250 employees, and the Product Service Code is 6550 (In Vitro Diagnostic Substances, Reagents, Test Kits and Sets). Interested vendors should note that only Cepheid-manufactured cartridges are compatible with the existing analyzer, establishing a proprietary requirement for this procurement.
