This procurement is being conducted under FAR 8.405-6(b) authority and is classified under NAICS code 334510 (Electromedical and Electrotherapeutic Apparatus Manufacturing) and PSC code 6515 (Medical and Surgical Instruments, Equipment, and Supplies). The notice specifically addresses the Oscar G. Johnson VA Medical Center in Iron Mountain, Michigan, which seeks to continue its existing lease arrangement for Olympus Urology Scopes. The acquisition is not a competitive solicitation but rather an invitation for interested entities to demonstrate their capability and interest in providing alternative solutions.

The primary objective of this Special Notice is to provide other vendors an opportunity to identify themselves as potential suppliers before the VA proceeds with the sole-source award to Olympus America Inc. Interested contractors must submit their responses and any questions or comments to Contracting Officer Mack Taylor at Mack.Taylor2@va.gov no later than December 31, 2025, at 12:00 p.m. CST, with "Notice of Intent from SAM.GOV" referenced in the subject line. There are no specific eligibility restrictions, and any entity capable of providing compatible Olympus Urology scopes or alternative equipment is invited to respond. The VA has emphasized that the current equipment is integrated with existing cameras, reprocessing equipment, towers, and scope cleaning systems, and any submitted responses will be evaluated to determine whether the requirement should be opened to competitive procurement. The government will not reimburse any costs incurred by contractors in developing their responses to this notice.
