About this opportunity

The Department of Veterans Affairs Veterans Health Administration, Veterans Integrated Service Network 2 is seeking sources for CABG Suture Packs designed for open heart cardiac surgeries to be used at the Buffalo VA Medical Center. This Request for Information (RFI) is issued under FAR 10.001 for planning and informational purposes to assess market availability and technical capabilities, though it does not constitute a commitment to award a contract. Prospective offerors must be registered in SAM.gov with a valid UEI and should respond to eight questions addressing business size and type, GSA schedule contracts, capability to supply the specified medical items, warranty offerings, potential substitutions or customizations, domestic manufacturing capability, and submission of capability statements. The RFI is not evaluating proposals competitively but rather gathering information about qualified sources and their capabilities in the Surgical Appliance and Supplies Manufacturing industry (NAICS 339113). Responses must be submitted by March 13, 2026 at 12:00 PM Eastern Time to Contract Specialist LaTriece Bruce at latriece.bruce@va.gov, and the product service code is 6515.

This is not a set-aside procurement and does not specify an incumbent contractor or predetermined award value. The anticipated procurement consists of three cases of CABG Suture Packs, with each case containing 26 line items including fasteners, labels, suture sleeves, and various types of sutures (ranging from #0 to 8-0) manufactured by suppliers such as Ethicon/J&J Healthcare, Austin Medical, Uline Shipping Supplies, OMI Halyard, and R.R. Donnelley & Sons. Small businesses are defined in this category as those with 800 or fewer employees, and the government has indicated a preference for domestically manufactured sources. All items must be delivered to the Buffalo VA Medical Center at 3495 Bailey Ave, Buffalo, NY 14215. As this is an RFI rather than a formal solicitation, no specific budget or contract value is disclosed at this stage.
