About this opportunity

The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Veterans Health Administration, specifically VISN 22 Long Beach Network Contracting Office, is conducting a Sources Sought/Request for Information (RFI) to identify potential suppliers of Powered Air Purifying Respirator (PAPR) systems for the VA Medical Center in Albuquerque, NM. The RFI seeks sources capable of providing Maxair Systems CAPR equipment or equivalent products, with specific focus on a comprehensive PAPR system that includes a helmet, battery, charger, and various additional components like comfort strips and filter cartridges. Interested companies must respond to a detailed set of questions addressing their business size, manufacturing capabilities, and ability to meet technical specifications by December 20, 2024, at 4:00 PM PST. The evaluation will assess businesses based on their size status (under NAICS code 339112 with a 1,000 employee size standard), manufacturing or distribution capabilities, and compliance with requirements such as the Buy American Act. Responses will be used solely for market research and potential future solicitation planning.

The pre-solicitation notice does not indicate a specific set-aside designation, meaning all business sizes may potentially compete. No incumbent contractors are named in the documentation, and no specific award value or budget range is disclosed. The procurement is focused on acquiring a detailed PAPR system with extensive technical requirements, including integrated helmet design, battery life indicators, adjustable airflow, and ease of cleaning and reconfiguration. Companies are encouraged to provide general pricing information, though this will be used only for market research purposes and will not factor into any award decision. The RFI emphasizes that responses are not considered offers and cannot form a binding contract, and respondents are responsible for their own response costs. Interested firms must submit their responses via email and provide comprehensive information about their capabilities, including their SAM.gov Unique Entity ID and any existing federal contract vehicles.
