About this opportunity

The Department of Veterans Affairs Veterans Health Administration Veterans Integrated Service Network 2 has issued a Notice of Intent to Sole Source a contract for outsourced chemotherapy compounding services. The contracting office, based at the James J. Peters VA Medical Center in Bronx, New York, has published solicitation number 36C24226Q0550 on April 20, 2026. This Special Notice announces the VA's intention to award the contract through sole source procurement rather than through full and open competition. The product service code is 6505 (Medical and Surgical Supplies and Devices), and the NAICS code is 325412 (Pharmaceutical Preparation Manufacturing). Interested parties should contact Aleta Jennette, the Contracting Officer, at Aleta.Jennette@va.gov for additional information.

The VA intends to sole source a one-year contract to Optum Infusion Services 308, LLC for compounded chemotherapy drug preparation and delivery services spanning from August 24, 2026 through September 30, 2027, serving multiple VA Medical Centers across the New York Harbor Healthcare System. The contractor must deliver ready-to-administer chemotherapy drugs on a patient-specific basis while maintaining compliance with VHA Directive 1108.12, USP 797 standards, and FDA requirements, including implementation of a 15-point pharmacist check system and one-day turnaround time for all prescriptions. Market research conducted by the VA determined that Optum Infusion Services 308, LLC is the only vendor capable of meeting these specialized specifications. Interested parties may submit Expressions of Interest detailing their capabilities, pricing, and technical qualifications to demonstrate availability as a comparable alternative source by May 1, 2026 at 10:00 AM Eastern Time to Aleta.Jennette@va.gov. The government reserves the right to conduct a competitive procurement based on responses received.
