About this opportunity
The Department of Veterans Affairs, Veterans Health Administration, Veterans Integrated Service Network 17 intends to award a sole source, firm-fixed price contract for the procurement of Flyrcado (flurpiridaz F-18) Injection, a pharmaceutical preparation classified under NAICS 325412 and PSC 6505 (Drugs and Biologicals). The VA will consider capability statements, proposals, or quotations from all responsible sources to determine whether a comparable alternative source is available and more advantageous to the government, though this notice does not constitute a formal request for quotations or proposals. The evaluation will focus on identifying whether any other source can satisfy the agency's requirements for this specialized pharmaceutical product. The critical response deadline is January 12, 2026, with a seven-day response window from the January 6, 2026 publication date; if no affirmative written response is received within this timeframe, a contract will be issued to Cardinal Health without further notice. The sole source justification is based on statutory authority 41 U.S.C. 3304(a)(1), as implemented by FAR 6.302-1, citing that only one responsible source exists and no other supplies or services will satisfy the agency's requirements.
This procurement carries no set-aside designations. Medi-Physics, Inc. is identified as the intended awardee, with GE Healthcare's existing VA NAC contract 36F79725D0214 establishing the pricing framework; notably, GE Healthcare has stated that all Flyrcado orders must be placed as open market orders to Medi-Physics, Inc. The contract is for 990 units of Flyrcado measured in millicuries (mCi), with performance locations at the VA North Texas Health Care System and South Texas Veterans Health Care System. While specific award values are not disclosed in this pre-solicitation notice, the pricing will be established using the rates from GE Healthcare's existing contract. Cardinal Health is referenced as the alternative recipient should no competing proposals be received within the seven-day response period, suggesting the agency has identified backup sourcing options.
