About this opportunity

The Department of Veterans Affairs Veterans Health Administration Veterans Integrated Service Network 16 cancelled RFQ 36C25626Q1188 for CenTrak RTLS remediation services, effective August 30, 2026. The Government is reevaluating the requirement and will post a new RFQ; interested offerors should monitor SAM.gov.

The original solicitation, posted August 18 with responses due August 31, 2026 at 4:00 PM Central Time, was a Total Small Business Set-Aside for restoration of CenTrak Real-Time Location System equipment and infrastructure at the Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center in Houston, Texas. NAICS code 334111 (Electronic Computer Manufacturing); PSC 6350.

The work required full restoration, installation, and configuration of CenTrak RTLS hardware including one Low Frequency Exciter (ITDK-340), eight 900 MHz Stars (ITK-103), 29 Multi-Mode Monitors (ITK-313L), and 138 Virtual Walls (ITK-323L), plus survey, design, as-built documentation, structured cabling restoration to TIA standards, firmware updates, wireless signal validation, comprehensive testing, and user acceptance training. The contract period was twelve months from award date.

Contractors needed active SAM registration, authorized access to CenTrak OEM tools and documentation, and qualified personnel with a minimum two years of RTLS experience and CenTrak OEM certification. A Business Associate Agreement compliant with HIPAA and the HITECH Act was required; contractors had to use only U.S.-based subcontractors and notify the VA within 24 hours of any breach or unauthorized access to Protected Health Information.

Amendment 0001, issued August 20, clarified that the previous incumbent contractor was MAG Defense LLC under contract 36C10B25C0008, but MEDVAMC currently had no existing contract fulfilling the RFQ requirements. A mandatory site visit was scheduled for August 25, 2026 at 9:00 AM CST at MEDVAMC. Award was to be made to the Lowest Priced Technically Acceptable offeror. The Contracting Officer is Steven A. Berkeley, steven.berkeley@va.gov.
