About this opportunity
The Naval Research Laboratory (NRL) is seeking a 600 MHz Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) Spectrometer System through this Sources Sought Notice and Request for Information (RFI N00173-26-RFI-MR11). This pre-solicitation market research effort aims to gauge industry interest and identify potential vendors capable of supplying a high-field solid-state NMR spectrometer system with comprehensive technical specifications. The government requires responses in the form of capability statements demonstrating technical competency to meet detailed specifications covering the spectrometer console, RF transmitter and receiver systems, amplifiers, preamplifiers, superconducting magnet, probes, and supporting hardware and software components. All responsible sources are encouraged to submit responses, and the government has not identified formal evaluation criteria at this stage, as this notice is intended for planning and market research purposes only. Interested parties must submit their capability statements by April 29, 2026, at 3:00 PM EST to the primary point of contact, Maribel Ramirez, with no reimbursement available for response preparation costs.
This procurement includes no set-aside designations, and no incumbent contractor information or estimated award value is disclosed in the pre-solicitation notice. The NRL is in the planning stages of this procurement and may modify requirements as necessary, with no guarantee that this requirement will be competed on SAM.gov or result in any contractual commitment. The government assumes no financial responsibility for any costs incurred by interested vendors in responding to this RFI. The required system specifications include a 14.0 Tesla superconducting magnet with a 54 mm bore, a four-channel NMR console with minimum three RF transmitter channels covering 15 to 600 MHz, two high-power RF amplifiers (minimum 500 W output), multiple preamplifiers, and a host computer workstation with specified processing capabilities. The specification document details additional requirements for temperature control (77 K to 150°C operation), sample spinning accuracy (within 0.1%), and comprehensive software for acquisition, processing, and pulse programming with specified memory allocations.
