About this opportunity
The Department of the Air Force Headquarters District Washington is conducting market research for the installation of an 8-inch CPVC pipe ventilation system for equipment in Hangar 11 at Joint Base Andrews, Maryland. The project requires providing and installing exhaust piping that extends vertically approximately 14 feet from an existing parts washer exhaust pipe, then runs horizontally approximately 28 feet to exit the building above the hangar doors on the north side. Key requirements include supporting the horizontal pipe from the concrete ceiling, cutting and sealing the corrugated steel building exterior where the pipe exits, and installing barriers to prevent bird and rodent entry. Contractor personnel must be U.S. citizens with project leadership experience and understanding of security requirements while maintaining professional appearance standards. This sources sought notice has a response deadline of August 27, 2025, and serves as market research only without obligating the government to proceed with a contract.
This opportunity is designated as a Total Small Business set-aside under NAICS code 238220 for Plumbing, Heating, and Air-Conditioning Contractors. No incumbent contractors or current service providers are identified in the notice, and no budget ranges or estimated contract values are disclosed at this pre-solicitation stage. The performance period is specified as 30 calendar days from contract award, with work to be completed during standard operating hours of 0600-1530, Monday through Friday, though coordination for alternative hours may be possible. The project involves specific quantities including approximately 14 feet of vertical piping extension and 28 feet of horizontal pipe routing, with the ceiling located approximately 3 feet above the planned horizontal pipe route. The government emphasizes this is purely a market research exercise and will not reimburse costs for responses or authorize any work without a properly executed contract.
Notice text
Provide and install 8" CPVC pipe and fittings from the existing parts washer exhaust pipe to outside the building. The existing 8” CVPC pipe will need to be extended and supported vertically approximately 14 feet. Then the pipe will need to run horizontally approximately 28 feet and exit building above the hangar doors on the north side of hangar 11. The horizontal pipe will need to be supported from the concrete ceiling as required. The ceiling is approximately 3 feet above where the horizontal pipe will run. The area that the vent will exit the building is corrugated steel and will need to be cut to allow for the exhaust pipe to exit the hangar. This area will need to be sealed around the exhaust pipe once installed. The exhaust pipe will also require some type of barrier to prevent birds and other rodents from entering.
-See attached statement of work and photos for more information.
***This sources sought is for market research only and does not obligate the Government. It is not a solicitation and cannot be accepted to form a contract.
