About this opportunity
The Department of the Army Materiel Command Mission and Installation Contracting Command Fort Hood is seeking to procure two industrial-grade 3D printers through a supply contract that requires delivery to Fort Cavazos, Texas by November 14, 2025. The contract is currently in the pre-solicitation phase and is designated as a Request for Information to gauge market interest and capability. Offerors must demonstrate their ability to provide 3D printing systems that meet stringent technical specifications, including a minimum build volume of 400mm x 400mm x 300mm, capability to print with carbon- and glass-fiber reinforced polymers, high-temperature print heads reaching 500°C, and sustained production speeds of at least 1 kg per day. The government will evaluate proposals based on total price, requiring quotes that reflect a clear understanding of requirements and consistency across all elements of the offer. Interested vendors must complete an attached form and express their interest by the September 12, 2025 due date.
This opportunity is designated as a Total Small Business set-aside, restricting competition to qualified small business concerns. The contract calls for exactly two 3D printer units with highly specific performance criteria, including precision closed-loop servo motion systems, automated leveling capabilities, and active chamber temperature management between heated and cooled states. The systems must be designed for industrial-grade durability with less than one hour of monthly maintenance during 24/7 production use, and feature touchscreen interfaces with multiple connectivity options including CANBUS, Wi-Fi, and USB. While no specific budget range has been disclosed, the technical specifications indicate these are high-end additive manufacturing systems capable of processing advanced materials and maintaining consistent production in demanding military environments. The timeline from solicitation to delivery spans approximately two months, suggesting an expedited procurement schedule for mission-critical equipment.
