About this opportunity
The National Institute of Standards and Technology seeks a custom 399nm optical assembly for laser conditioning, with quotations due August 27, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. Mountain Time submitted via email to lisa.stevens@nist.gov. This is a firm-fixed-price commercial acquisition under FAR part 12 with no set-aside.
Place of performance is Boulder, Colorado (325 Broadway, Boulder, CO 80305). The assembly must condition laser light at 759 nanometers and include a government-furnished butterfly-packaged laser system, optical isolator, narrow bandwidth volume Bragg grating, acousto-optic modulator, beam-steering optics, polarization-control optics, dichroic mirror, photodetector, free-space laser shutter, fiber-coupling, and photonic crystal fiber mounted on a low-thermal-expansion glass or Invar baseplate. The unit must achieve fiber coupling efficiency exceeding 70% at each output port with output power variation less than 10% over a 15°C temperature range around a 25°C design temperature, and must mount in a 19-inch rack drawer with vibration isolation and panel-mounted electrical and optical interconnects. Delivery and acceptance must be completed within 16–18 weeks after order, with government acceptance testing expected to take 21 days. The NAICS code is 334413, Semiconductor and Related Device Manufacturing; PSC is 6640, Laboratory Equipment and Supplies; small business size standard is 1,250 employees.
Award will be made under Lowest Price Technically Acceptable (LPTA) evaluation: Technical Capability is evaluated on an Acceptable/Unacceptable basis requiring demonstration of clear understanding and ability to meet minimum requirements; Price is evaluated for reasonableness without price realism analysis.
