About this opportunity
The United States Air Forces in Europe–Air Forces Africa is issuing a Request for Information to assess industry capabilities and acquisition strategy for armored vehicles supporting the 31st Logistics Readiness Squadron at Aviano Air Base, Italy, with responses due by September 16, 2026. This is a market-research RFI only; no solicitation package is currently available and the government incurs no obligation based on submitted information.
The government seeks commercially available four-wheel-drive armored vehicles capable of transporting personnel and equipment in off-road and security-force environments. Preliminary specifications (subject to revision based on industry input) require a diesel engine with automatic transmission, left-hand steering, ground clearance exceeding 340 millimeters, wheelbase between 3,230–3,530 millimeters, crew capacity of at least four, and payload capacity of at least 1,500 kilograms post-armor installation. Respondents must identify ballistic protection levels, mine and blast protection levels, IED-related protection capabilities, and applicable test standards including STANAG 4569 levels. The vehicle must accommodate weapons-mounting provisions for government-approved mounts or turrets, comply with UN/ECE Regulation No. 13 and NATO standards for braking and electrical systems, and provide central tire-inflation and run-flat capabilities.
The government requires detailed European logistics and support information: manufacturer's European headquarters or support office location, European parts warehouse locations, authorized maintenance and warranty facility locations in Italy, average and maximum delivery times for critical and noncritical parts, emergency maintenance response times, and warranty coverage for armor and third-party integrations. Respondents must provide nonbinding budgetary pricing in USD, with line-item costs for base vehicle, protection package, mounting provision or turret, communications integration, spare parts, training, manuals, diagnostic equipment, delivery, and exterior finishes. Firms must be registered in SAM.gov. Questions and completed attachments are due by September 16, 2026, directed to carter.schmucker.1@us.af.mil or gualtiero.casadio.it@us.af.mil, referencing RFI FA5682EAU31LRS.
