About this opportunity
The Department of the Air Force Space Command is seeking five phase pad-mounted transformers with specific voltage ratings ranging from 112.5 KVA to 750 KVA for the 30th Contracting Squadron at Vandenberg Space Force Base. The transformers must meet rigorous technical specifications, including all stainless-steel construction (304L or 316L grade), dead-front design, copper windings, and compliance with 2016 DOE Efficiency Standards. The solicitation requires vendors to be registered in the System for Acquisition Management (SAM) and submit pricing valid for 90 days. Key technical requirements include specific features such as "Pentahead" cabinet locking mechanisms, externally clamped LV bushings, and a Munsell-Green exterior finish. The solicitation is open until May 30, 2025, with the procurement number FA461025Q0034 and an estimated performance period of 6 months after award.
This contract opportunity is set aside for total small business participation within the Power, Distribution, and Specialty Transformer Manufacturing sector (NAICS 335311), with a size standard of 800 employees. The place of performance is Lompoc, California, and the procurement involves detailed technical specifications for transformers including specific electrical requirements, oil-filled design, and comprehensive testing protocols. The transformers must feature specific characteristics like a two-position load break primary switch, five-position tap changer, automatic pressure relief device, and dial-type gauges for oil temperature and liquid level monitoring. While no incumbent contractors are mentioned, the solicitation indicates a need for precise engineering specifications and compliance with military electrical standards. The contract will require vendors to provide transformers with guaranteed performance metrics, including an average coil winding temperature of 65C rise over a 30C ambient air temperature.
