About this opportunity
The National Institutes of Health Clinical Center Materials Management & Environmental Services Department is seeking to procure 50 stainless steel trash receptacles with tip-action lids to reduce rodent and pest presence in support of patient care operations. The required receptacles must be fully stainless steel, cylindrical design with 41-50 gallon capacity, featuring manual tip-action lids that allow waste deposit and automatically return to closed position for rodent deterrence. This procurement is being conducted under FAR Part 13 Simplified Acquisition Procedures, specifically allowing the contracting officer to solicit from a single source if deemed the only reasonably available option. The acquisition is exempt from standard competition requirements under FAR Part 6. Interested parties must submit their capabilities and interest to Contract Specialist Kristin Nagashima at Kristin.nagashima@nih.gov by June 25, 2025 at 2:00 PM EST.
This opportunity is designated as a Total Small Business set-aside, restricting participation to qualifying small business entities. The procurement requires exactly 50 units of the specified trash receptacles, with no incumbent contractor identified in the notice. No specific contract value or budget range is disclosed in this pre-solicitation announcement. The timeline for interested parties to respond is extremely compressed, with only five days between the posting date of June 20, 2025 and the submission deadline. The procurement falls under NAICS code 326199 for All Other Plastics Product Manufacturing and PSC code 6515 for Medical and Surgical Instruments, Equipment, and Supplies, reflecting the specialized nature of medical facility equipment.
