About this opportunity
NASA's Shared Services Center has issued a Special Notice for the 2025 8-Station SHADOZ Ozonesonde Network Order, a specialized procurement for scientific measurement equipment. The agency intends to award a sole source contract to JH ACQUISITION, LLC of Westminster, Colorado, under FAR 13.106-1(b)(1)(i) authority, having determined that this company is the sole provider of the required equipment. The procurement falls under NAICS code 334516 for Analytical Laboratory Instrument Manufacturing and will be performed at NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center. The government plans to acquire these items as commercial products using FAR Part 12 and Part 13 procedures. Performance will span approximately one year from December 2025 to November 2026.
The procurement supports the SHADOZ ozonesonde network by supplying critical scientific instruments including CFH hygrometers, parachutes, ECC ozonesondes, and related equipment for nine long-term measurement stations across multiple international locations including Costa Rica, Ecuador, Galapagos, Hawaii, Samoa, Fiji, Reunion Island, and Vietnam. The equipment enables multi-decadal balloon-borne ozone profile records essential for satellite validation, ozone and pollution trend analysis, and climate studies. Interested organizations may submit written capabilities and qualifications to the contracting points of contact by 3:00 p.m. Central Standard Time on August 21, 2025, with submissions evaluated solely to determine whether competitive procurement is warranted. The government retains full discretion in deciding whether to proceed with sole source acquisition or pursue full and open competition based on received responses.
