About this opportunity
The Department of the Navy Strategic Systems Programs awarded a sole-source contract to General Dynamics Mission Systems (GDMS), located in Pittsfield, Massachusetts, on January 29, 2026, for 2025-2027 Technical Maturation and Risk Reduction engineering and technical support related to the TRIDENT II Fire Control Subsystem. The contract, designated N0003026C1005, is structured as a Cost-Plus-Fixed-Fee Level-of-Effort arrangement with an expected completion date of September 30, 2027, and carries an award value of $24,620,485. GDMS was selected as the sole source due to its unique design background, extensive system knowledge, and 50+ years of prime contractor responsibility for fire control systems, with the contracting officer determining that no other qualified sources could meet the technical, cost, and fleet schedule requirements within acceptable timelines. The justification noted that transitioning to an alternative contractor would require 2-3 year qualification periods that would create unacceptable program delays and national security risks, and a prior sources sought notice received no competitive responses.
