Update #1 ·
The U.S. Department of Education (Department) anticipates the release of the 2019 Small Business Innovation Research Program (SBIR) Phase I Special Topic solicitation on or about February 15, 2019.
The purpose of the SBIR program is to stimulate technological innovation in the private sector, strengthen the role of small business in meeting Department research and development needs, increase the commercial potential of Department-supported research results, and improve the return on investment from Federally-funded research for economic and social benefits to the Nation.
The Department invites qualified small business firms to submit an SBIR Phase I proposal under this Special Topic Solicitation for the federal research or research and development (R/R & D) for the development of a prototype of a "return on investment" (ROI) tool to measure the estimated ROI of different education programs and career pathways. The ROI tool will improve and inform job- and cost-informed post-secondary decision-making of students from traditional and non-traditional backgrounds. Awards are for periods up to 8-months in amounts up to $200,000.
Products must fall in this this priority area.
This pre-solicitation notice is not a request for proposals.
