About this opportunity

The Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) Aviation is conducting market research through this Sources Sought Notice to identify potential manufacturers or suppliers of NSN 1440-01-492-1196, a structural component for the Minuteman III LGM-30 missile system. This is not a formal solicitation but rather an informational notice to assess market capability for manufacturing or legitimately obtaining this guided missile component. Interested companies must demonstrate their ability to manufacture the item to the same level of quality or better than the currently approved supplier and submit responses by November 3, 2025, at 10:00 AM Eastern Standard Time via email to Tatjana Klemmer at tatjana.vaughan@dla.mil. Companies seeking approval as an "Approved Source" are required to submit a complete Source Approval Request (SAR) package through the SAR Program, which must include all technical data demonstrating manufacturing competency and product equivalency or superiority to the existing component. The evaluation will be based on the contractor's ability to document and substantiate that their product meets or exceeds the quality standards of the currently procured item, with applicants directed to reference the provided JACG SAM Handbook for detailed SAR requirements.

This notice includes no set-aside designations and identifies IBC Materials and Technologies LLC (CAGE 34TJ3), the current manufacturer, which produces this component under part number 7002791-6. No specific award value or budget range is disclosed in this market research phase, as this Sources Sought Notice is intended solely to gauge supplier interest and capability rather than to commit government funding for contract award. The SAR review process typically requires over 180 days from submission, after which applicants will receive formal notification of their approval status. Respondents should review the DLA Supplier Requirements Visibility Application to assess forecasted demand for this item before investing in a SAR application, as the government may deem a SAR not cost-effective based on low item demand. No funds are available to compensate companies for preparing responses to this notice, and all submitted information is strictly voluntary.
