About this opportunity

The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) at the National Interagency Fire Center (NIFC), operating under the Department of the Interior, has issued a Special Notice regarding the procurement of wildfire firefighting equipment. The agency intends to conduct a sole-source negotiation with Dragonslayers, Premium Wildfire Tools for the supply of 100 Basic Temperate Forest Fire Kits, including troop tool covers and Pulaski blade guards. This procurement is authorized under FAR 6.302.1, which permits other than full and open competition when the government determines a single source is uniquely capable of meeting requirements. The estimated contract value is $67,500, and the procurement is categorized under NAICS code 333998 for miscellaneous general purpose machinery manufacturing.

The Special Notice serves as a public posting to satisfy regulatory requirements rather than as a competitive solicitation, and no Request for Quotation will be issued. Interested contractors have until January 26, 2026, at 5:00 PM Eastern to submit written notification to the Contracting Officer, Casey Gean Boyd, demonstrating that they can provide comparable items at or below the estimated transaction cost of $67,500. Firms must reference action number 140L3726Q0010 in their submissions and provide compelling evidence of their capability to fulfill the requirement. While the procurement remains unrestricted and open to any responsible firm, the government anticipates awarding the contract to Dragonslayers unless affirmative evidence of a comparable alternative source is received by the deadline. Inquiries regarding this acquisition should be directed to the Contracting Officer at cmboyd@blm.gov.
