8. The instrument must have an uninterrupted power supply included.

9. Instrument should operate in an ambient lab temperature environment

(approximately 59 to 95oF).

10. Software must fully control all ICP-MS components.

11. Computers must be provided with the required software to run instrument(s), process the acquired data, generate a customer report and be compatible with the in-house

LIMS.

12. Instrument software must contain data acquisition, qualitative, and quantitative analyses.

13. Instrument software will allow for stand-alone data processing.

14. Must provide a library/database of the mass spectra in the field of environmental science.

15. Detector to allow for full frame imaging.

16. Mass-flow controllers for gas flows.

17. The Radio Frequency (RF) generator shall have an output power range of 750-1600 watts.

18. The generator shall have a 75% minimum power transfer efficiency with a 0.l minimum power output stability.

19. Shielding from stray Ultraviolet (UV) and RF emissions

20. Safety interlocks shall be monitored continuously and if any interlock is breached, the plasma will shut down.

21. Interlocks that prevent damage to the RF Generator and instrument in the event of power failure.

22. Sample tray capacity shall be >80 samples.

23. Closed coupled, three-channel integral peristaltic pump, computer controlled, must be integrated within the ICP-MS system.

24. The system must be interface able with Elemental Scientific Incorporation (ESI) Auto samplers, prepFast and Fast systems (quoted). Specifications below.

ESI prepFAST

24.1 Auto calibration from a single stock solution

24.2 Variable in-line dilution performed with a mixing valve up to 400x.

24.3 QC Auto dilution of calibration over range or internal standard out of range.

24.4 The FAST system offers many advantages for analyzing a variety of sample types and ICPMS including:

24.4.1 Lowers reagent cost by using lower concentrations of internal standards.

24.4.2 Better precision.

24.4.3 Lower cost of consumables and routine maintenance: torch, nebulizer, cones, pump oil.

24.4.4 Reduced deposition on cones, etc.- due to smaller sample sizes minimizes drift.

24.4.5 Lower facilities cost with shorter run times for less consumable usage-peripump tubing, Ar gas, etc.

24.4.6 Improves sensitivity.

24.4.7 Lowers oxides

24.4.8 Cleaner, faster washout, reduces sample carry-over.

24.4.9 Eliminates peristaltic pump memory effects by sample never touching peripump tubing.

24.4.10 Dual rinse station improves rinse out and reduces blank contamination.

24.4.11 Fewer Quality Control (QC) failures.

24.4.12 Faster stabilization time.

24.4.13 Optional online constant dilution with micro-peripump.

24.4.14 Can add volatile analytes such as Mercury (Hg) to ICPMS methods.

24.4.15 High speed sample loading minimizes sample uptake time.

24.4.16 Supports online internal standard addition.

24.4.17 Pre-loaded FAST and ICPMS methods for rapid implementation included.

24.4.18 Modular design enables multi-application flexibility (with plug and play ease-of-set-up).

24.5 The prepFAST offers many advantages as well to sample preparation and analysis including:

24.5.1 Software control and functionality: the prepFAST software allows for flexibility in method development due to the unique functions available in the software.

24.5.2 Multiple syringe system: The prepFAST utilizes the S400V which contains multiple syringe modules with various barrel volumes for precise dilution up to 400X.

24.5.3 Priority dilution: After a run of samples, the user can simply select the over-range samples from the list and then rerun without moving samples, rewriting shorter methods, etc.

24.5.4 Auto calibration: The prepFAST allows for calibration from a high standard with the user simply selecting the calibration points they desire and the prepFast does the rest.

24.5.5 Inline dilution: The prepFAST mixes/dilutes the sample inline thereby eliminating the need to take an aliquot of the sample and diluents and deposits it into another tube that could be the source of con-tamination.

24.5.6 The prepFAST automatically mixes the sample with the internal standard accurately.

25. Recirculator shall not be mounted directly on the instrument chassis.

26. Capability to interface to laser ablation or speciation instrumentation at a future date.
