The intake for exhaust ventilation is to be mounted no more than 12 inches above the bottom of the secondary containment sump. Lighting to be LED explosion proof fixture.
2) Weatherproof and explosion proof lighting and ventilation switches mounted on the storage building exterior wall next to the door with a pilot light to show the ventilation is on. Switches to be mounted on the exterior wall on the doorknob side of the door within eight inches of the knob allowing the lighting and ventilation to be easily turned on prior to opening the door.

The enclosure to be located on the back side of the building to keep it away from fuel dispensing that may occur in the front of the building. All electrical conduit, junction boxes, and panels boxes associated with the interior building electrical system to be explosion proof.
4) Ventilation to be controlled by a manually adjustable explosion proof thermostat. The intake for exhaust ventilation is to be mounted no more than 12 inches above the bottom of the sump. Thermostat to be initially set to automatically turn on the ventilation when the interior temperature reaches 80°F. The exterior vent switches shall “over-ride” the thermostat when turning on the ventilation system. When the ventilation switch is in the “off” position the thermostat shall control the system as described above.
5) Fresh air intakes to be located just below the ceiling level on a different wall(s) than the exhaust fan. Intakes to be a UL-listed fire damper design with removable insect screens that will allow the damper to close when exposed to fire. Fusible link to melt at 165ºF. Size the explosion proof mechanical ventilation and air intakes to provide at least six air changes an hour, but not less than 150 cubic feet per minute of exhaust. Exhaust vent to have louvered dampers that automatic open when the fan is in operation and close when the fan is off. Exhaust vents are also to be equipped with a weather protective shroud. The exterior side of the intakes should be equipment with hinged panels that may be positively latched in the closed position of over each intake in the winter and latch flat against the side of the building in the open position during the warmer times of the year.

The metal sump floor is not required to have a two-hour fire rating. Sump to be covered with metal or fiberglass grating that is designed to hold 100 pounds per square foot. Easily removable brackets are to be used to secure the grating in place over the sump. Grating sections to be easily removable by two people and easily fit through the door. The weight of each section of grating shall not exceed 40 pounds. Each section of grating will be completely framed on all sides with the frame as wide as the depth of the grating eliminating sharp edges and burrs allowing the grating to be lifted without cutting an individual’s hand. The sump will have a drain on it that discharges to grade so allow any spill to be easily removed and allow the sump to be washed out. The sump will slope towards the drain which is in the sump floor. The steel drainpipe will extend to within 2-inches of the edge of an exterior wall. The discharge end of drainpipe will be capped off with a threaded cap.
7) Adjustable metal shelving 16-inches deep with a 2-inch lip to contain spills on each shelf and prevent stored items from easily being displaced. At least 2 shelves along the whole back side are to be provided in the storage area. The shelving and its brackets must be capable of supporting at least 50 pounds per square foot.
8) One and a half hour fire rated UL-listed double doors with a UL-listed fusible link door closures and synchronizers that will secure the doors in the open position, but will allow the door to securely close in the proper order in the event of a fire when temperature exceeds 165ºF.
9) Two-hour rated fire wall construction for the entire building including but not limited to its walls, roof, and vertical walls of the sump.
