About this file
This is a work list document for the Nine Mile Phase 2 project in Colorado, detailing mine shaft closure work managed by the relevant state and local authorities. The project encompasses the closure of 10 mine shafts using two primary methods: steel grated closures and polyurethane foam (PUF) closures, with specifications outlined in supporting documents (Section 8 and Section 9 SWS). The shafts vary significantly in dimensions, ranging from 3 feet to 24 feet in width and depths between 15 and 80 feet. All shafts require bat exclusion measures as part of the closure process. The work locations are distributed across the Nine Mile area near Gunnison, Colorado, with specific UTM coordinates and detailed access directions provided for each feature. Two shafts (NM-12 and NM-16) are designated as eligible historic sites and require on-site cultural resource monitoring during construction activities.
The project includes specific material requirements for each closure type, including concrete footers for grated closures, PUF quantities ranging from 3 to 8 cubic yards depending on shaft dimensions, and steel beam reinforcement for larger shafts (NM-18 and NM-19 require two 4Wx13 steel beams each). Work locations are situated on both Bureau of Land Management (BLM) and private lands, requiring coordination with multiple property holders. The detailed specifications reference Section 8 (Steel Grated Shaft Closure specifications) and Section 9 (Polyurethane Foam Closure specifications) of the Supporting Work Specifications document, indicating that bidders must adhere to established technical standards for mine closure work. No pricing information, funding sources, or contract terms are specified in this work list document.
