Pro·ect Name: WMATA Tunnel Ventilation Im rovements Pilot Pro·ect

Estimated Cost Ran e: $20 to $30 Million

DESCRIPTION

The Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMAT A) is seeking the services of Design Builders interested in providing design, fabrication of ventilation equipment, and construction services, for the WMAT A Tunnel Ventilation Improvements Pilot Project.

The Tunnel Ventilation Improvements Pilot Project Site is located on WMATA's A-Line between the Cleveland Park (A05) and Woodley Park (A04) Stations, including ventilation shafts VAS and VA9, and fan shaft FA6, and as shown in the Draft General Plans included as an Attachment to this Advance Notice.

This Pilot Project will be the first of up to sixty (60) tunnel segments anticipated to receive similar ventilation improvements throughout the WMATA System.

The Tunnel Ventilation Pilot Project will provide additional fan capacity on WMAT A's A-Line between, and including, Cleveland Park and Woodley Park Stations for the purpose of providing additional smoke management capacity.

The proposed fan plants at ventilation shafts VAS and VA9 shall be powered from existing Station facilities, which will be upgraded as part of this contract, and controlled locally and remotely.

Anticipated activities for the Tunnel Ventilation Improvements Pilot Project include demolition, design and construction of structural platforms, design, fabrication, testing, and installation of new ventilation fans, wire and cable additions and upgrades in the tunnels, and existing Station AC Room equipment replacement at both Cleveland Park and Woodley Park Stations.

A Design Build procurement method will be used to deliver this project. WMAT A will award a single contract for design, fabrication and installation of ventilation fans, construction of structural platforms, and replacement of AC Room equipment, wiring and cables upgrades, to a single Design Build Team. Disadvantage Business Enterprise (DBE) participation percentage goals have yet to be established for the project identified in this Advance Notice, however WMAT A estimates a DBE goal between 15% and 25% for this contract.

For informational purposes, Draft General Plans have been included with this Advance Notice. The RFP documents are expected to be available early May, 2019 on the WMATA Internet web site at https://www.wmata.com/business/procurement and contracting and on Federal Business Opportunities website at https://www.fbo.gov

All questions shall be directed to the Contract Administrator, Mr. Timothy Mauritz tmauritz@wmata.com at (202} 962-2055.
